Superdrug’s seperate application for a backlit sign was rejected by the Planning Committee. They will have to put up a sign that is in keeping with the rest of the St Margarets’ high street.
The application for Advertisement Consent was not considered to be acceptable for visual reasons and was also incomplete in its documentation; it was not, therefore, validated … The applicant’s agent was advised of this and has stated that fresh documents will be sent in the near future, showing a painted fascia with applied, slightly proud, lettering and existing external swanneck light fittings. When the application is finally validated, normal consultation procedures will follow. The reason that the signage has not been publicised is that no valid application yet exists.

No back lit sign for Superdrug! What about Tesco! Can our councillors confirm that the back lit Tesco sign will be removed and replaced with something more in keeping with St Margarets village style? I believe that this was a condition of the original planning application or am I mistaken.
Ann Murray on 2005-09-15 13:25:04 +0000I am so surprised that our councillors have do nothing to resolve the problems caused by Tesco - rubbish in the street, lorries parking when and where they want, noise and all that before you mention the lack of planning permission. What is it going to be like when Superdrug and the wine bar open?
