Richmond Council’s Parks and Open Spaces have started a trial of FitPoint, a piece of fitness equipment in Moormead Park. FitPoint is designed for both young and old to test their strength and exercise their bodies. The unit consists of a rowing machine, twisting disc, bench lift, push-up, pull-up and step-up.
This is a temporary installation and is part of a roaming project within the Borough’s Parks and Open Spaces. The Fitpoint has been in Kneller Gardens, Meadway, Twickenham for the past 6 weeks where it was well received.
The Council would like feedback on the FitPoint to assess whether it would be a popular addition to the park, so if you have an opinion, call 020 8487 5243.

It's not the prettiest piece of park equipment but in less than a week it seems to have made an impact.
Current position should be reviewed. As a resident overlooking the park, people seem to find it very offputting to be observed while exercising.
I think it could be a great addition to Moormead. Adults and children find it intriguing.
Perhaps it could be included in the fenced-off play area? Or positioned where people feel less exposed to scrutiny?
Maybe it would be worth doing a more formal survey, say on Saturday and/or Sunday mornings when the park is buzzing with families enjoying community football.

Andy Napier on 2007-03-29 12:01:46 +0000It's a great idea - I agree with the location comment - perhaps it would be better sited somewhere less prominent but well done to the council for thinking of it.
