The first Eel Pie Club gig of 2017: The Pretty Things are at the heart of the UK Rhythm & Blues Scene. These legendary 'bad boys of rock' created some of the most exciting and innovative records of the late 60s and early 70s. In 2011 they were awarded the Hero award at the Mojo Honours and have been name checked over the years by an array of artists ranging from The Clash, David Bowie & Aerosmith through to The Libertines and Kasabian. Original Pretty Thing, Phil May is on lead vocals, guitar and blues harp. Dick Taylor (original Pretty Things and also an original Rolling Stone) is on acoustic, slide and lead guitar, and Frank Holland is on acoustic, slide guitar, backing vocals and harp. The Pretty Things' first 3 singles, 'Rosalyn', 'Don't Bring Me Down' and 'Honey I Need' all made the charts. The band then moved from rhythm and blues, through psychedelia, their famous rock opera, S.F. Sorrow, and heavy metal - and now back to the music that made them famous - Rhythm and Blues. Plus support by Sam Brothers.
